Baseball Recap: St. Croix Falls Snags Seventh Victory in Last Nine Games

St. Croix Falls came out on top against Cameron on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Saints walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Comets. The Saints have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Comets, too.

Elliot Wilson looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kyle Olson and Alex Hoff did most of the damage at the plate: Olson went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Hoff went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Hoff a new career-high. Carter Ridgeway was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

St. Croix Falls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cameron only posted an OBP of .364.

St. Croix Falls is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Cameron, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-16.

Looking ahead, St. Croix Falls will be playing in front of their home fans against Spooner at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cameron does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
