Volleyball Recap: East Comes Up Short

East had lost 22 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-23 to make it 23. They came up short against the Alta Hawks, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in March.

As for Alta, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The victory was nothing new for Alta as they're now sitting on three straight.

Alta found their leader in freshman Mayson Meirinho, who had three digs and three aces. Those three aces set a new season-high mark for Meirinho. Ty Mahe also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

Looking ahead, East will square off against Taylorsville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Leopards are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Alta, they will head out on the road to take on Skyline at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
