Recap: Leo Lions vs. Prairie Heights Panthers
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Huntington North, the Leo Lions were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Prairie Heights by a score of 44-36. That's another feather in the cap for Leo, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kayla Adams led the charge by scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. Adams has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Abby Bovie was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Prairie Heights' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mckinlee Kain, who scored six points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily McCrea, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Leo is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Prairie Heights, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leo will take on Norwell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Norwell is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road. As for Prairie Heights, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Angola at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th.
