Franklin and Independence are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2023, but not for long. The Admirals will face off against the Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Franklin is headed into Saturday's matchup hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. The game between the Admirals and Ravenwood didn't end well, with the Admirals falling 54-39. The contest marked the Admirals' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Independence not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since January 16th (when they won 85-53). They were the clear victors by a 68-44 margin over Columbia Central. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Lions are ranked 176th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Independence's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.6 points over those games. As for Franklin, their loss dropped their record down to 18-9.

Franklin couldn't quite finish off Independence in their previous meeting back in January and fell 51-48. Can the Admirals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
