Basketball Recap: Trego Triumphs

There's no place like home for Trego, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They escaped with a win on Friday against the Decatur Community Red Devils by the margin of a single free throw, 68-67. The win continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won eight in a row.

Trego's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aceton Walt, who shot 75% from beyond the arc en route to 20 points. Thanks to that strong game, Walt now owns an excellent 48.3% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Vladon Crawford, who went 7-for-12 on his way to 15 points and five assists.

Decatur Community lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Brycen Ketterl, who shot 78% from the field to rack up 17 points and six boards. Tyler Ostmeyer was another key player, going 6-for-9 en route to 15 points and five assists.

Trego's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Decatur Community, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-3 record.

Coming up, after both having extra time off, Trego and Rawlins County will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2026. The Golden Eagles will be up against the Buffaloes' rather soft defense (which has allowed 49.8 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Decatur Community, they will look to defend their home court on January 2, 2026 against Logan/Palco at 7:00 p.m.
