Baseball Recap: Union Parish's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Union Parish's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-6 margin over the Vidalia Vikings. With that victory, the Farmers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Union Parish got a massive performance out of Jose Rodriguez, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Rodriguez is becoming a predictor of Union Parish's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 4-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Khaidyn Johnson, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5.

The win snapped Union Parish's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-9 record. As for Vidalia, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Union Parish will challenge Claiborne Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Vidalia, they will square off against Caldwell Parish at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Caldwell Parish will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Vidalia surely won't give up without a fight.
