Baseball Game Preview: Floresville Tigers/Jaguars vs. Pearsall Mavericks

The Floresville Tigers/Jaguars will venture away from home to square off against the Pearsall Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Floresville came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Warren, falling 15-6.

Bryan Cardenas and Jacob Hawn did some serious damage despite the final result: Cardenas scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Hawn scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave Hawn a new career-high in stolen bases. Jaden Moreno was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Pearsall lost 19-1 to Navarro on Tuesday. The Mavericks haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Pearsall saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samuel Navarro, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base. That stolen base was Navarro's first of the season.

Floresville's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Pearsall, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

Pearsall's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Floresville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. It's a different story for Pearsall, though, as they've only averaged .229. Will they be able to contain Floresville's hitters?

Everything went Floresville's way against Pearsall in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Floresville made off with a 7-0 victory. Will Floresville repeat their success, or does Pearsall have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
