Basketball Recap: Chowchilla's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Chowchilla had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They took down the Caruthers Blue Raiders 47-30. That's more bragging rights for the Tribe, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chowchilla to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zayne Smith, who posted 12 points. Smith is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Daniel Ojeda, who put up eight points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Chowchilla now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Caruthers, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-9.

Chowchilla will take on Liberty at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Chowchilla surely won't give up without a fight. As for Caruthers, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-59 win against Firebaugh on the 25th.
