Softball Recap: Rockford Auburn Comes Up Short

Rockford Auburn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Belvidere Bucs. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bucs earlier this season, when they won 7-5.

Ava Johnson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Lily Parr was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Rockford Auburn's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Belvidere, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-8.

Looking ahead, Rockford Auburn will face off against Freeport at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Knights are facing the Pretzels at the right time seeing as the Pretzels are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Belvidere, they will challenge Jefferson at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The J-Hawks will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Bucs surely won't give up without a fight.
