Basketball Recap: Huss Huskies vs. Ashbrook Greenwave

The Huss Huskies pushed their score all the way to 70 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Ashbrook by a score of 72-70. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (62), Huss still had to take the loss.

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Satchelle Pettis, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pettis has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaiyir 'Zii' Phillips, who scored eight points along with seven assists and seven steals.

Ashbrook's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamari Smith, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Smith hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Ayron Jackson, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Huss has fallen quite a ways from their 18-9 record last season and are now at 5-10. As for Ashbrook, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-2.

Huss will head out on the road to take on the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Gaston is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak. As for Ashbrook, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Red Raiders at 7:30 p.m. South Point has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 494 points over their last seven contests.
