Baseball Game Preview: Catholic Bears vs. Mandeville Skippers

The Catholic Bears will challenge the Mandeville Skippers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Catholic will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Catholic is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Louisiana's top teams: Mandeville, who was ranked 21st at the time (Catholic was ranked second). Catholic came out on top against Mandeville by a score of 6-2 on Thursday.

Catholic got a great performance from Lucas Lawrence as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Lawrence has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jack Ruckert was incredible, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in home runs. Another player making a difference was Andrew Clapinski, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Catholic lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Catholic's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Mandeville, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
