Football Recap: Mound City Panthers vs. Stanberry Bulldogs
Mound City couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 36-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Stanberry Bulldogs on Friday. The Panthers have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Stanberry got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Treston Williams out in front who rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.2 yards per carry, and also picked up 51 receiving yards. Williams got the majority of those yards when he pulled down a pass and and took off for a gain of50 yards. Another player making a difference was Colby McQueen, who rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
Mound City will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Worth County/Northeast Nodaway at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Stanberry, they will square off against Rock Port at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Rock Port focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Friday.
