Football Game Preview: Franklin Road Academy Panthers vs. Antioch Bears + How To Watch

The Franklin Road Academy Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Antioch Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Antioch will be up against a hot Franklin Road Academy team: the squad just extended their winning streak to six. The Panthers claimed a resounding 42-7 victory over Goodpasture Christian. With the Panthers ahead 29-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Franklin Road Academy found their leader in sophomore Jack Nimitz, who threw for 84 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Franklin Road Academy proved: they limited Goodpasture Christian to a paltry 2.2 yards per carry. The Panthers didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 14.9.

Meanwhile, Antioch hadn't done well against Overton recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bears simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bobcats 55-10. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 58th, while the Bobcats are ranked 216th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Antioch's win came from a few key players Franklin Road Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Andre Adams, who threw for 203 yards and three TDs on only 15 passes, and also rushed for 43 yards and one score. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Khalil Ferguson was in the mix too, providing Antioch with two touchdowns.

One reason for the win was Antioch's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Overton's QB won't forget Davon Rhodes anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Fred Ntumba was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Franklin Road Academy's record is now 6-0. As for Antioch, their record now sits at 7-0.
