Recap: Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Mustangs vs. Covington-Douglas Wildcats
After flying high against the Canton Tigers on Saturday, the Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Mustangs came back down to earth. Pioneer-Pleasant Vale was beaten by Covington-Douglas 71-40 on Tuesday. Pioneer-Pleasant Vale has not had much luck with Covington-Douglas recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Covington-Douglas was led to victory by Ford Smith and Miguel Tarango. Smith scored 20 points along with eight rebounds, while Tarango scored 21 points along with five steals. The contest was Smith's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Derrek Daugherty was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
Pioneer-Pleasant Vale now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Covington-Douglas, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
Pioneer-Pleasant Vale will look to defend their home court on Friday against Waukomis at 8:00 p.m. As for Covington-Douglas, they will head out on the road to face off against Cimarron at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
