Volleyball Recap: Grain Valley Victorious

Grain Valley hadn't done well against Platte County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Eagles won by a set and slipped past the Pirates 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since September 13th.

Grain Valley wouldn't go down easily and took Platte County into a fifth set where they got it done with a seven-point win. The final score came out to 16-25, 25-18, 25-21, 23-25, 15-8.

Makenna Lane was a one-woman wrecking crew as she had 15 digs and three aces. Those 15 digs gave her a new career-high.

Lane wasn't the only good server: Grain Valley was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. The Eagles are a perfect 8-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

Grain Valley pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Platte County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7-2.

Coming up, Grain Valley will venture away from home to square off against Truman at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Platte County, they will welcome St. Michael the Archangel at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
