Baseball Recap: Palmyra Drops Highest Score of Season Against Bowling Green

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Palmyra). They were the clear victors by an 18-7 margin over the Bowling Green Bobcats on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Palmyra got a massive performance out of Bryant Horstmeier, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Horstmeier has become a key player for the Panthers: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Cade Lehman was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-5.

Palmyra always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Palmyra's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Bowling Green, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palmyra will welcome Macon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bowling Green, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against North Callaway at 5:00 p.m. The Thunderbirds will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Bobcats surely won't give up without a fight.
