Soccer Game Preview: Gretna vs. Duchesne

The Gretna Dragons will challenge the Duchesne Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Gretna's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Gretna and Blair, and Blair kept the tradition alive. The Dragons lost 4-1 to the Bears on Thursday. Things were pretty much settled by the half as Gretna were already down 3-0.

Their goal came courtesy of Briella Thompsen, who's now up to eight this season.

Meanwhile, Duchesne faced Skutt Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Cardinals came up short against the SkyHawks, falling 5-0. Having soared to a lofty seven goals in the game before, Duchesne's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Gretna's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Duchesne, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-3 record.
