Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Roger Bacon walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Clinton-Massie Falcons on Wednesday, sneaking past 4-2. The victory was nothing new for the Spartans as they're now sitting on six straight.
Kyle Miller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, De'Vion Gipson was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Roger Bacon: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 9-12 otherwise. Ben Powers also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
The win got Roger Bacon back to even at 12-12. As for Clinton-Massie, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-6.
