Basketball Recap: Jordan Speller's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Grace Christian over Varsity Opponent

Grace Christian has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 45-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Varsity Opponent on Sunday. The Crusaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Varsity Opponent apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2014.

Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Speller, who posted four points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Isa Roman, who put up nine points.

Grace Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Grace Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Terry Sanford at 6:00 p.m. on December 26th. As for Varsity Opponent, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-35 defeat against Hun on the 15th.
