Baseball Recap: Flatirons Academy Bison vs. SkyView Academy Hawks
If Flatirons Academy was feeling good fresh off their 13-0 takedown of Otis on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bison took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the SkyView Academy Hawks on Monday. The Bison were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2018.
Mateo Pope was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Pope wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Braxton Kelley, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
