Baseball Recap: Boling Wins Going Away Against Hempstead

Boling not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 21st. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Hempstead Bobcats. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Jerrick Garcia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Those 16 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Boling: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Parks Macek, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Trak Jimenez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Boling kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Boling's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Hempstead, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

Boling will have a chance to go back-to-back against Hempstead: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
