Basketball Recap: Lake View Wildcats vs. Mather Rangers
Lake View had taken Mather down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Wildcats took a 52-33 bruising from the Rangers. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 45-30 to the Rangers when the teams met back in January, then they'll just have to keep looking.
When it comes to explaining why Lake View lost, don't look at Brianna Cruz. Despite the final result, she posted 11 points. Nat Mendez also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.
Temilade Yesufu was her usual excellent self, going 14-for-19 to rack up 30 points along with seven steals and six boards for Mather. That makes it six consecutive games in which Yesufu has scored at least a third of the Rangers' points. Another player making a difference was Kayrhianna Jackson, who put up 14 points in addition to five assists and three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Lake View and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Mather, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-5.
