Football Game Preview: Sparrows Point Pointers vs. Central Falcons

The Sparrows Point Pointers will take on the Central Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Sparrows Point comes in on nine and Central on three.

Sparrows Point is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Surrattsville 43-6. The Pointers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Mikey Maynor produced another solid effort rushing for 45 yards and two scores.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Central against Edmondson-Westside on Thursday as the team secured a 50-10 victory. The contest marked the Falcons' most dominant win of the season.

Central's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Sparrows Point, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Sparrows Point has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 180.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 170.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Everything came up roses for Sparrows Point against Central in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, as the squad secured a 48-0 victory. Will the Pointers repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
