Basketball Recap: Maylen Gagliano Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Hendersonville Christian Academy

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pleasant View Christian, South Haven Christian was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 50-29 margin over the Hendersonville Christian Academy Crusaders. South Haven Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 20 points or more this season.

South Haven Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maylen Gagliano led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 19 boards. What's more, Gagliano also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Kaleigh Starnes was another key player, putting up six points in addition to ten rebounds and five assists.

South Haven Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

South Haven Christian moved to 15-10 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Hendersonville Christian Academy, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Haven Christian will take on Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hendersonville Christian Academy, they will face off against Victory Baptist Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
