Kennebunk will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs last Friday, then bounced right back against Portland on Saturday. The Rams were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Bulldogs. Considering the Rams' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Griffin Whitney tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two).
On the hitting side, Max Andrews was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Theo Adams was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Scarborough put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Biddeford.
Scarborough saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kam Duggan, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Scarborough's victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Kennebunk, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Kennebunk has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Scarborough struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
