The Plainfield South Cougars will square off against the Minooka Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Plainfield South took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Oswego, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cougars came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers on Monday, sneaking past 3-2.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Minooka, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Joliet West a 9-0 shutout on Monday. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by eight runs or more this season.
Marina Hristov tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addisonn Crumly, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Gracie Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Minooka always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Joliet West only posted an OBP of .120.
Minooka pushed their record up to 15-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Plainfield South, their win bumped their record up to 13-10.
Plainfield South came out on top in a nail-biter against Minooka in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
