Baseball Recap: Hudson Comes Up Short

Hudson dropped their record down to 8-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 8-0 to the Coxsackie-Athens Riverhawks. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Bluehawks were not able to get on the board.

Hudson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Conte, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Coxsackie-Athens, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Considering they have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On Coxsackie-Athens' side, not much got past Brendan Woytowich, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Hudson off the board. Woytowich has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alex Slater was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Logan Weinstein was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Looking ahead, Hudson will head out on the road to take on Salem at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Coxsackie-Athens, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Watervliet at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
