Football Recap: Hector Lopez Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Staples

Greenwich extended their postseason success on Sunday against Staples. They never let the Staples Wreckers onto the board and left with a 14-0 win. This was a revenge game for the Cardinals: when they faced off against the Wreckers last Thursday, they had to take a 27-0 defeat.

Greenwich got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hector Lopez out in front who rushed for 110 yards and one touchdown. With that strong performance, Lopez is now averaging an impressive 100.2 rushing yards per game. Blake Martin was another key pass catcher, picking up 115 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Greenwich has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.7 points per game. As for Staples, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 10-2 record.

Greenwich wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 14-0 win against West Haven on the 14th. Staples does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
