Baseball Game Preview: Sparta Spartans vs. Kenowa Hills Knights

For the second straight game, Sparta will face off against Kenowa Hills. The Spartans will welcome the Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sparta 3.9, Kenowa Hills 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Monday, Sparta came up short against Kenowa Hills and fell 8-3.

For Kenowa Hills' part, Chastyn Cole made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Cole a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Andrew Lake was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Brennan Gustinis, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Kenowa Hills is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Sparta, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-10 record this season.
