Baseball Recap: Centennial Comes Up Short

Centennial blew Birmingham out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Birmingham got their revenge. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 6-4. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2019.

Centennial got a good showing from Lando Baxter, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Baxter has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tyler Jackson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Centennial's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 15-9. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 2.75 runs. As for Birmingham, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Centennial has already played their next contest, a 4-3 win against Basic on the 16th. As for Birmingham, they will welcome Chatsworth at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games the Chancellors have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
