Football Game Preview: Donovan Catholic Griffins vs. St. Joseph Falcons

Donovan Catholic has won three straight games at home, while St. Joseph has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Griffins will host the Falcons at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Donovan Catholic's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Howell 21-0. Given the Griffins' advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Rebels are ranked 137th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alex Staten had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 143 yards and two TDs on only 13 carries. Those 143 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Donovan Catholic's defense and their three sacks. Jason Madden was especially locked on to Howell's QB and sacked him twice.

Meanwhile, St. Joseph strolled past Woodbridge with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 17-0. Those 17 points were actually the fewest the Falcons have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

St. Joseph's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Donovan Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
