Statesville hasn't had much luck against East Lincoln recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Statesville Greyhounds are taking a road trip to face off against the East Lincoln Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Statesville ended up a good deal behind Hickory and lost 49-32.

Despite the loss, Statesville had strong showings from TanDriyana Allison, who posted seven points in addition to 11 rebounds and four steals, and Symerria Harris, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Allison a new career-high in steals.
Even though they lost, Statesville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games.
Meanwhile, East Lincoln lost to North Lincoln on the road by a 61-46 margin on Friday. The match marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Statesville will have to contain Emma Montanari as she made an impact in East Lincoln's last game. She had 21 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Montanari continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Taniyah Thomas, who scored 12 points and eight steals.
Statesville's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for East Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 19-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Statesville has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32.3 boards per game. However, it's not like East Lincoln struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.1 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Statesville lost to East Lincoln on the road by a decisive 59-41 margin in their previous matchup back in January. Can Statesville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
