Volleyball Recap: Lauren Roaten's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Union over Hickory Flat + How To Watch

West Union was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hickory Flat Rebels. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rebels earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

West Union actually scored more points across those five sets (104-96), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-22, 13-25, 25-23, 15-9.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lauren Roaten, who had 17 digs and four aces. Another player making a difference was Emma Cook, who had 13 digs and three aces.

West Union's loss dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Hickory Flat, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-12-1.

Looking ahead, West Union will face off against Myrtle at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hickory Flat, they will square off against Potts Camp at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
