Basketball Recap: St. Michael Comes Up Short

If St. Michael was riding high fresh off their 76-42 takedown of Rough Rock last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The St. Michael Cardinals had to suffer through a 64-26 loss at the hands of the BASIS Flagstaff Yetis. The Cardinals were red-hot offensively headed into the game (they scored no less than 55 points in the nine contests prior) but the Yetis' defense proved too tough.

It was another big night for Daniel Quiroz, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 22 points for BASIS Flagstaff. Quiroz is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Iori Cruz was another key player, putting up 11 points and five steals.

St. Michael's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-13. As for BASIS Flagstaff, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-7.

St. Michael will welcome Fort Thomas at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for BASIS Flagstaff, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-33 victory against Rough Rock on the 28th.
