Basketball Recap: Brandon Brazell Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Elite Academy

On ThursdayMartin County's undefeated season almost came to an end. They had just enough and edged the Elite Academy Eagles out 60-57. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since December 23, 2023.

Martin County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brandon Brazell led the charge by putting up 19 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Ari Smith, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 14 points and six assists.

Martin County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Elite Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Levi Brown, who posted 13 points. Those 13 points gave Brown a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Rivera, who had 12 points.

Martin County's record is now 9-0. As for Elite Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.
