Preview: Potomac School Panthers vs. Connelly School of the Holy Child

The Potomac School Panthers will head out on the road to square off against Connelly School of the Holy Child at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Potomac School is ranked 11th in Virginia, while Connelly School of the Holy Child is ranked 15th in Maryland).

Potomac School struggled with threes last Friday (Sidwell Friends had five more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Potomac School opened the new year with a less-than-successful 51-42 defeat to Sidwell Friends. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Potomac School has scored all season.

Despite their loss, Potomac School saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Zora Burrell, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and six steals, was perhaps the best of all. Burrell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sabrina Anderson, who scored 15 points.

Meanwhile, Connelly School of the Holy Child was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 52-51 to St. Andrew's Episcopal. Connelly School of the Holy Child has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Potomac School's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Connelly School of the Holy Child, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5.

Potomac School came up short against Connelly School of the Holy Child when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 50-45. Can Potomac School avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
