Baseball Recap: Notre Dame (SO) Takes a Loss

After flying high against Harvard-Westlake last Tuesday, Notre Dame (SO) came back down to earth. The Knights fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 5-4 on Wednesday. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolverines earlier this season, when they won 7-0.

Beckett Berg was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jacob Madrid was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Phelan Bucknor, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Notre Dame (SO) dropped their record down to 9-11 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Harvard-Westlake, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Notre Dame (SO) will be playing at home against Valencia at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Knights are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Harvard-Westlake, they are taking a road trip to face off against Keller at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
