Softball Recap: Northeast Jones Comes Up Short

Northeast Jones has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 4.05 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They fell just short of the Greene County Wildcats by a score of 11-9. The Tigers have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Madison Evans was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Taylor Landrum, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Northeast Jones' loss dropped their record down to 16-4-1. As for Greene County, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northeast Jones will host Quitman at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Greene County, they will be playing at home against East Central at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats are on a nine-game streak of home wins, the Hornets a six-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
