Basketball Recap: Alyana Mcgarity's Big Game Can't Quite Lead New Braunfels over Alamo Heights

New Braunfels's game on Tuesday was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 58-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Alamo Heights Mules. The Unicorns were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mules apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2017.

New Braunfels lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Alyana Mcgarity, who posted 12 points. Mcgarity has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Penelope Ruiz, who earned ten points.

Even though they lost, New Braunfels was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

It was another big night for Berkley Hart, who dropped a double-double on 37 points and 15 boards for Alamo Heights. The dominant performance gave Hart a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Barker, who put up ten points.

New Braunfels dropped their record down to 15-12 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Alamo Heights, their record now sits at 10-12.

New Braunfels will take on Boerne at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Alamo Heights, they will challenge Wagner at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Wagner knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Alamo Heights likes a good challenge.
