Baseball Recap: Sheldon Comes Up Short

Sheldon extended their losing streak to 12 on Friday, dropping them down to 1-18. They came up short against the Franklin Wildcats, falling 12-0. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, with their most recent loss being a 15-0 defeat on Wednesday.

As for Franklin, they pushed their record up to 16-4-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

For Franklin's part, Kyle Timmons made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Timmons has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryan Cody, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Dylan Minnatee was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Sheldon will take on rival Pleasant Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Franklin is set to face off against their familiar foe Elk Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 2.9, the Thundering Herd 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
