Softball Recap: St. Edward Takes a Loss

St. Edward and Gardner-South Wilmington squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but St. Edward had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Green Wave couldn't push the score so high this time.

Alaina Nolan put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Sarah Gurley made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.

St. Edward's defeat dropped their record down to 17-13. As for Gardner-South Wilmington, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-11 record this season.

As of now, neither St. Edward nor Gardner-South Wilmington have any future games scheduled.
