Baseball Game Preview: Basic Wolves vs. Temecula Valley Golden Bears

The Basic Wolves will challenge the Temecula Valley Golden Bears at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Temecula Valley will be up against a hot Basic squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Wolves' way against Coronado on Thursday as they made off with an 11-2 victory. With that win, the Wolves brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Lincoln Evans looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Troy Southisene, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and one stolen base while going 3-for-5. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ace Sapp, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Basic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coronado only posted an OBP of .160.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Temecula Valley). They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over Poway on Saturday.

The victory got Temecula Valley back to even at 2-2. As for Basic, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
