Volleyball Recap: Mount St. Mary Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Community Christian

Mount St. Mary faced Community Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Rockets took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Royals. The match marked the first time this year in which the Rockets were not able to get on the board.

Their offense was headlined by Ella Hale and Jentri Denwalt, who picked up five kills apiece. Denwalt really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 12.

Community Christian was led to victory by Emma Rogers and Rachel Maynes. Rogers had seven digs and five assists, while Maynes had six digs and two aces.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mount St. Mary fell to 4-1. As for Community Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Mount St. Mary has already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Norman on the 16th. As for Community Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Edmond Santa Fe on the 16th.
