Baseball Recap: Archbishop Hannan Comes Up Short

Archbishop Hannan was the 6-0 winner over Newman when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Archbishop Hannan fell just short of Newman by a score of 2-1 on Friday.

Archbishop Hannan saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sammy Loeb, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Loeb has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Archbishop Hannan's loss dropped their record down to 16-14. As for Newman, they moved to 10-11 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, Archbishop Hannan will be playing at home against Lakeshore at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Archbishop Hannan 3.8, Lakeshore 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Newman, they will head out on the road to take on St. Martin's Episcopal at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. St. Martin's Episcopal will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Newman surely won't give up without a fight.
