Football Recap: Bastrop Starts off Right with Win over Alvin + How To Watch

Bastrop took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Alvin Yellowjackets 55-14. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bears also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Bastrop got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Weston Nielsen out in front who threw for 253 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.5 yards per attempt, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Gary Jefferson Jr. was another key player, gaining 166 total yards and three touchdowns.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Bastrop proved: they limited Alvin to a paltry 1.7 yards per carry. The Bears didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.4.

Although Alvin took the loss, they still got scores from Alex Avitia and Keegan Moore.

Coming up, Bastrop will take on China Spring at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Alvin, they will challenge Fort Bend Dulles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
