Softball Recap: Hutsonville/Palestine Gets the Win

Hutsonville/Palestine never let their opponents score on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Altamont Indians 1-0. The Tigers were shut out 5-0 the last time they took on the Indians, so the Tigers were just returning the favor.

The result came thanks to Hayden Monan's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Hutsonville/Palestine and bumps their season record up to 14-7. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Altamont, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hutsonville/Palestine will face off against Chrisman at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers are facing the Cardinals at the right time seeing as the Cardinals are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Altamont, they will venture away from home to face off against Dieterich at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
