Baseball Recap: Circle Christian's Win Ends Eight-Game Losing Streak at Home

Circle Christian had lost eight games at home dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 5-12 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lake Mary Prep Griffins 9-8. This was a revenge game for the Centurions: when they faced off against the Griffins back in February, they had to take a 6-5 defeat.

Jon Waldrop made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Waldrop was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on DJ Williams, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Circle Christian: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cayden Cook, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Lake Mary Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-9. Even though they lost, their still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

On Lake Mary Prep's side, Landon Trauger made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Payne Fitzmaurice, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.

Circle Christian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 12-8 loss against Jones on the 8th. As for Lake Mary Prep, they have also already played their next contest, a 14-0 defeat against Taylor on the 8th.
