Baseball Recap: Highlands Gets the Win

Simon Kenton typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Highlands proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Pioneers by a score of 8-4. That's more bragging rights for the Bluebirds, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Jaxon Roderick was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Grayson Lanich was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Highlands now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Simon Kenton, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highlands will challenge Campbell County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Camels will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Bluebirds surely won't give up without a fight. As for Simon Kenton, they will square off against Cooper at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
