Recap: Southern Academy Cougars vs. Pickens Academy Pirates
There's no place like home for the Southern Academy Cougars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They took down Pickens Academy 49-35 on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Southern Academy also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
It was another big night for Madeline Chapman, who dropped a triple-double on 18 points, ten rebounds, and 11 steals. Chapman is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Margaret Cooper, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Southern Academy's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. As for Pickens Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.
Southern Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Wilcox Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. As for Pickens Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southern Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
