Basketball Recap: Jordan Morrison's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Elbert County over Providence Christian Academy

Elbert County lost against Providence Christian Academy two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Elbert County Blue Devils took a 52-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Providence Christian Academy Storm. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 341st, while the Storm are ranked 160th).

Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Morrison, who went 7-for-16 on his way to 18 points. Morrison continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aj Brown, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Elbert County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Elbert County's record now sits at 11-16. As for Providence Christian Academy, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-6.

Elbert County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Providence Christian Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 69-59 loss against Commerce on the 12th.
